The Dry Mouths

tdmslider

The Dry Mouths is a quartet of Alternative Rock coming from Almeria, Spain. Their music is a mixture balanced between the rock of the 90′, stoner and the experimentation, leaving itself to notice in the first listening influences of groups like Nirvana, Tool, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, Black Sabbath or Pink Floyd. They take from 2006 as The Dry Mouths and until the moment have recorded two discs of study: “Lost Bow Case Eckard” 2010 and “Moons True Delay Lenght Wah Foo Era” 2012, which can be listened and be unloaded gratuitously in Facebook and Myspace. Their first disc has received very positive critics on the part of specialized press in Spain. Since 2010, The Dry Mouths have been touring for all Spanish territory presenting their music. With their new work, The Dry Mouths adds to a degree of maturity and evolution to their forceful and melodic sound, that every time is more personnel and identification of the band. Throughout 2012 they will present its new LP in rooms and festivals… will leave more than a Dry Mouth!

WE COULD BUILD AN EMPIRE Self-Titled Debut Album Streaming on Stereokiller

Sweden’s We Could Build an Empire released their eponymous debut album in late 2011 and reading reiviews it is obvious that this band has its own expression, hard to compare to any other artist. Two of Sweden’s biggest music magazines had their say early on, Gaffa.se gave it 4 out of 5 stars and Close-Up Magazine wrote:

“Ice. gives a pleasant feeling of both external and internal peace.”Easy” and “Finest Work” also (contains) insanely delicious moments. dynamic and driving. a colorful seance on a mountaintop.”
The album was written, recorded and produced by the band itself and mixing took place in Studio Underground in Vasteras, Sweden (No Fun at All, Wolf, Sherlock Brothers etc).

We Could Build an Empire are:

Marcus Pehrsson; vocals, bass
Pontus Wallin; guitars, backing vocals
Michael Ohlsson; drums

Influences vary from such bands as Alice In ChainsKing’s X and King Crimson to artists like Peter GabrielCaptain Beefheart and PJ Harvey.

Two promo videos have been shot  and one of them, “Dogs“, is directed by Per Hillblom who has also worked with Pain of Salvation. A third video, this time for the track “Ice“, have been shot and will be published later this spring.

Last year the band opened for Danish rockers D-A-D and they have been featured several times on Sweden’s biggest showcase concept held at festivals and venues around the country; NEMIS – New Music In Sweden, most recently in Gotheburg in february with Siena Root among others on the bill.

The band will continue playing live frequently this spring/summer and have already written most of the material for the next album. Recordings will begin later this year.

Quantum Sphere

band

London-based prog trio Quantum Sphere, self produced and released their debut album ‘The Space Adventures of Pyjama Boy‘ in July of 2011 after only 2 years after their initial formation.

The band came to be shortly after Mark Smith (The Drummer) spoke of his will to put together a Planet X/Meshuggah style prog band to Greg Knox (The Bassist). Greg immediately thought of guitarist, Joe Pearson (The Guitarist), a friend and member of 2 previous bands that Greg had been in, who had not only shared these influences but had the talent to create something original with them.

Shortly after a phone call and a few emails, the trio started writing. The songs ‘Perplexia‘ and ‘The Space Adventures of Pyjama Boy‘ were written within the space of a few months. Not even 2 years after their first practice sessions, the band had a 9 track album recorded, played shows and had begun planning their Album Launch Party for 2012: a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Described as ‘Sci-fi progressive-metal fusion‘, Quantum Sphere‘s stye combines groovy rhythms and riffs, progressive leads and synths with soundscape orchestrations and outbursts of massive metal moments. All of which are inspired by science, space, extreme metal and computer game music. The songs are complimented with 9 individually crafted visual pieces to add an extra dimension to their live shows.

Quantum Sphere are currently working on new material. They are also planning more gigs and are looking to play festivals around the UK and Europe.

The Space Adventures of Pyjama Boy‘ is available from iTunes.

John Duva

John Duva

JOHN DUVA is a band from Åre in northern Sweden; a place where they’ve lived and played together for a long time. Lately, the band moved south, to the archipelagos of Stockholm. They are all traveling from different cities in Sweden to meet up and play on the island of Yxlan, Stockholm, pretty much all the time!

With an attitude and a burning passion, they meet up to play and to dispose the frustration of waking up and wasting their time with routines and everyday jobs. This is the main factor for their inspiration, and the heart of their music; to break free from standard living and create a reality of their own which consists of music and pure energy. JOHN DUVA is band that you don’t categorize, simply because of the variated impressions they use in their music and lyrics. Think The Hives meets King Khan & The Shrines, combined with garage, punk & psych, and you might be on your way of getting the picture!

Troglodyte Records and JOHN DUVA found each other rather quickly, and as a result the debut of JOHN DUVA will be released by Troglodyte Records in February!

Effloresce – Coma Ghosts, Tracklist and Art Cover Revealed

Effloresce, Nuernberg, 12.11.11

January 8th, 2012 Nuremberg, Germany – German progressive metal force Effloresce, fronted by vocalist Nicki Weber, revealed the tracklist and art cover of their upcoming album named Coma Ghosts. The album is set to be released on February 10th and the label is yet to be announced.

The artwork, designed both by guitarist Dave Mola and Nicki Weber is shown below.

Coma Ghosts is comprised of 6 tracks, totaling a bit above 54 minutes. The tracklist of the album is as follows:

01. Crib (8:12)
02. Spectre Pt. 1: Zorya´s Dawn (10:34)
03. Pavement Canvas (8:58)
04. Undercoat (2:54)
05. Swimming through deserts (7:11)
06. Shuteye Wanderer (16:31)

For Coma Ghosts, Effloresce worked with Swedish producer legend Dan Swanö to shape an epic sound for their signature elements like intense rhythm work, memorable melodies, organ, flute, and vocalist Nicki’s stunning range from crystal clear vocals to raw death metal growls. Comments guitarist Dave Mola: “Working with the producer of groundbreaking albums like Opeth’s Morningrise was a true honor for us and we couldn’t be happier with the results!

Coma Ghosts once again shows the band’s ability to write complex yet catchy material. The tracks range from more mellow songs like the ballad Swimming through Deserts to the more straight-forward metal of Pavement Canvas, right up to their most epic and complex song yet, the 16 minute closing track Shuteye Wanderer. Singer Nicki takes the listener on a nightmarish trip through the bleakest corners of human existence, though there is always a little spark of hope that the soul of each of the songs’ protagonists is not lost (yet).
